UAE Pass Integration for Mobile Apps: Developer Guide

UAE Pass is the official national digital identity platform of the UAE, issued by the UAE government. Since 2023, integration with UAE Pass has become a requirement for many government-adjacent apps, and is increasingly requested by enterprise clients as a premium authentication option.

**What UAE Pass enables for apps:**

1. **Verified identity:** Users authenticate with their Emirates ID — the app receives verified identity data (name, ID number, nationality, date of birth) without the user manually entering it.

2. **Document signing:** UAE Pass supports legally-binding digital signatures in the UAE.

3. **Single Sign-On (SSO):** Users can log in to your app with their UAE Pass credentials — no new account creation needed.

4. **KYC (Know Your Customer):** For fintech, insurance, and regulated industries, UAE Pass provides regulatory-grade identity verification.

**Technical requirements:** UAE Pass integration uses OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) standards. Your app needs to be registered with the UAE Pass platform through the UAE government's DIGI portal. The SDK is available for iOS, Android, and React Native.

**Approval process:** Government and semi-government apps typically get faster approval. Private sector apps need to demonstrate a legitimate use case. Approval takes 2–6 weeks.

**Who should integrate UAE Pass:**

  • Government services apps
  • Healthcare apps requiring verified patient identity
  • Financial services apps (fintech, insurance, banking)
  • Real estate apps requiring KYC for large transactions
  • Enterprise HR/payroll apps for UAE national employee verification
